This is what I have come to define myself as. Let me explain.
Firstly, I am all about the object and there’s two parts to this. On one hand it’s about its materiality. My focus is very detail oriented and I enjoy fine-tuning the object’s impact through the experience that its materials brings.
On the other hand, being object oriented is for me also a statement about scale. I work mainly on what I would call a human scale. Interior is to me the most intimate design and architecture, because it’s the things that you can touch, interact and be enveloped by. Objects are the things that quite literally touches us.
Then as to the relational part. If you are not familiar with the term relational design, this entails a focus on the relational factor between the object and its user. To me my primary product isn’t really the object itself, but rather the meeting between the object and its user. This relationship is why the object exists at all and therefore should be seen as the main focus to me.
As far as process goes I work best when I can explore and experiment and work through iterations to circle in on a final result. This allows me to keep a continuous conversation with my client, user and design. Good design, in my opinion, should always be a dialogue; a back and forth.
